IThe purpose of this place
ISV Course brings together quest-led, narrative and adventure games for players and families across the UK. Our reviews grow out of evenings spent playing, rather than a quick first impression. Alongside the story and mechanics, each entry explains the likely length of a sitting, a sensible finishing point, online contact, ongoing costs and the people it may suit.
IIWhy we follow adventures
A memorable quest carries you from an invitation into an unfamiliar world and eventually towards a resolution. That pull is precisely why an excellent story can swallow an evening. We believe a recommendation should help you enjoy the journey while also identifying a comfortable place to leave it until tomorrow.
IIIA board with a different reward
The notice board is a familiar meeting place in role-playing worlds: find an assignment, gather companions and discover what lies along the road. Here, the notices lead to games. Rather than treasure or experience points, the aim is an evening worth remembering, followed by enough time to step away and rest.
IVThe people behind the notes
Our contributors are experienced players whose interests range from considered role-playing battles to shared adventures and gentler worlds. Parents also help examine the family settings described across the site. That combination keeps the focus on how games fit into ordinary evenings, whether someone is playing alone, with friends or alongside a child.
VAn independent board
Games companies do not fund this project. ISV Course carries no advertising, referral commissions, sponsored reviews or paid positions, and there are no products to purchase here. We do not operate games, provide player accounts or collect payments. A place in the selection is not something a studio can buy.
VIKeeping judgement separate
A contributor with a personal or professional connection to a studio does not review that studio’s game; another reviewer takes the assignment and the connection is disclosed. Gifts, travel and privileged access are not accepted as a bargain for coverage. Readers should be able to distinguish a considered recommendation from a commercial arrangement.
VIIThe worlds in our pictures
The landscapes and scenes accompanying our game entries were illustrated specifically for ISV Course, drawing on the visual character of the worlds being discussed. They are not captured gameplay, publisher-supplied artwork or photographs of real people. The site’s own emblem is also part of our original visual identity.
VIIIWritten with the UK in mind
Our language, age-label references and support information follow a UK context. That means British spelling, PEGI guidance and organisations relevant to readers here. The reading experience stays free of tracking, intrusive pop-ups and video that begins playing by itself, so the games and the practical information remain the main event.
IXPutting mistakes right
If a detail looks wrong, email hello@isvcourse.com and point us towards the relevant entry. We examine reports and amend the page when a correction is needed. An official source is particularly useful when an update has changed a platform feature, a purchase option or another factual detail.
